Most people don't realise that the same material — PU, for example — behaves very differently depending on whether it's single or dual density. Single-density PU uses one layer of uniform hardness. It's lighter but less comfortable and wears faster. Dual-density PU uses a harder outer layer for grip and durability, and a softer inner layer for shock absorption and comfort. What is the best sole material for safety shoes in India?

Why does my PU sole start crumbling after a year?
This is a known property of polyurethane called hydrolysis — PU degrades when exposed to moisture and heat over time. It's not a defect; it's the material's nature. To slow this down, store your safety shoes in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. If you need a sole that won't degrade this way, TPU is the better long-term choice.
Is nitrile rubber sole better than PU for all uses?
